I decided to create a general thread to which people can discuss about their various suggestions on how to improve the site and make it more functional/interesting. Currently this is, at least in my opinion, the best Kreedz-related website ever, but there are things to improve in every place - thats why supermodels take breast implants. Without further ado: lets get to the point! I will edit this post and talk about my several ideas which I've cooked up in my malfunctioning & small brains.
IMO the forums are too well-hidden, you gotta go in community, and then forums.. ppl cant see the forums right away imo the forums should be between community and demos

Yeah, I thought about that right after I did it with the dropdowns. I might add an external link for the Forum then.
I found a small text file I had written for Cypress-Climbing ages ago, before the FPS Death Admin scandal which caused s1z3 to vanish and Cypress-Climbing to crumble. I won't say "R.I.P. Cypress-Climbing" because I think its for the best that it no longer exists. Perhaps these ideas will be interesting for people to see here, in Cosy-Climbing.
PLEASE NOTE THAT I DID NOT CHANGE ANYTHING FROM THE ORIGINAL FILE AND THEREFORE IT WILL HAVE SOME WEIRD INFORMATION IN IT.

Prologue: These ideas for contests are JUST THE BEGINNING of what I will write here. I will be on a vacation for a week since tomorrow (3rd day of the month to the 10th) and after that I will (hopefully) start getting back to this subject again. These ideas are just a small glimpse to what I will suggest etc.
Please read and comment.
Development suggestions/ideas for Cypress-Climbing

Chapter 1: How to get more visitors and activity to the site?
There are various ways to increase the amount of members and have more people generally interested about the website. Some of those ideas will be written down as a list below.
1. Contests - weekly contests - monthly contests
- Subjects for contests -
A. Mapping B. Writing C. Climbing D. Combinations of the choices above E. Other?
A) A mapping contest
1. Themes - different seasons (winter, summer, autumn...) - jungle/forest/wildlife/nature (barren deserts, rainforests, volcanoes, anything!) - cities/buildings (office-areas, "ghost towns", western/eastern-themes...) - space - "rats" (everything in big perspective, i.e. kz_dalai_rats, de_rats...) - other/more?
2. Decisions that have to be made if such a contest gets started - the theme(s) - 1 map, or a series of maps? (if 2-3 maps, the maps are rated with points and the one who receives most wins etc.) *read about the point system below* - 2man-maps or "solo-maps"? (a 2man-map is a map that requires 2 players to complete, such as 2man_bhop_gloomy) - dates (when to start, what is the deadline, when will the results be made public) - maps length (1.5 min to 2 minutes or a 5 minute-map?) - rewards (a VIP, a money reward, something else?) - punishments for "abusers" - more?
*What assets will be rated?*
- originality (unique ideas and jumps are ALWAYS intriguing) - scenery (how well the maps scenes fit the contests themes, how well are they executed) - level of jumps (if the map consists of jumps equal to a 220 longjump and suddenly two jumps are equal to a 250, it will have minus-points) - the entirety (how well does the map keep you entertained to the end from the start) - bugs - other/more?
B) A writing contest
1. Subjects - a recent event (anything from new recorders, admins or mappers to the new functions of the website etc. - the choice is free) - a past event (oldest records, the history of CC aka. Cypress Climbing) - Cypress-Climbing in general (?) - your transition from regular counter-strike to kreedz - personal memories relating kreedz - other/more?
2. Decisions that have to be made if such a contest gets started - the subject(s) - dates (when to start, what is the deadline, when will the results be made public) - length of the article (a broad-minded given length such as "short", "medium-length" or "long") - rewards (a VIP, a money reward, a chance to become a writer for Cypress Climbing, something else?) - punishments for "abusers" - other/more?
*What assets will be rated?*
- misspellings/proper English (if its incomprehensible, it will be completely denied from the contest etc.) - the consistency of the text (if the writer jumps from another subject to another and then back in a distracting manner, it will be a major negative asset) - if it is inspiring/uplifting/brilliant/hilarious etc. (creates a positive feeling) it MUST receive extra-points - how well it entertains you in general - other/more?
C) A climbing contest
A climbing contest would definitely get a lot of competitors and create activity to the site.
- a cup/cups - group-tournaments (2on2, 3on3 etc. - times counted together?) - other/more?
1. What maps would be played? - maps of a certain theme? - maps of a certain length? - maps without current records? - other/more?
2. How would it be arranged? - the forums would be used to create a thread for signing up (spam would be strictly unallowed and "fake-signups", too) - a page for "Tournament Signup"/"Cup Signup" would get created and added temporarily until the players have been gathered (www.cypress-climbing.com/signup.php etc.) - other/more?
3. Where would the matches be played? - Cypress-Climbing longjumping-server (password changed, name temporarily changed to "Cypress-Climbing - Cup Server #1" etc., map changed to the desired one) - another (new) server would be created for this purpose? - other/more?
4. Rewards - money - VIP - ?
5. How to choose the maps - a vote for the players themselves - random choosing - (cup)admins choose the maps they desire - other ways of choosing
6. Other - I feel like I forgot something fundamental - did I?
D) Combinations of the choices above
I feel, like this would be a very interesting choice and definitely worth trying at some point. What do I mean "combine" the competitions? Read below and understand.
1. What to combine? - mapping & climbing (create a map, climb a time on it) - mapping & writing (create a map, write about it) - mapping & writing & climbing (create a map, climb a time on it, write about the map - this would be a combination of ALL the suggestions) - climbing & writing (write about a tournament-winner/cup-winner, about his personal goals in the scene and more)
2. Other
If a combination of competitions gets arranged, how will the winners be picked? - simply make public the winners in BOTH (or all 3) competitions such as (climbing: 1. kafds, 2. zyllee, 3. father54 - writing: 1. kafds, 2. shakespeare, 3. SexyTime90 - mapping: 1. kafds, 2. Kreedz, 3. asd) - other/more?
E) Other contests?
Suggest other contest-ideas and I will list them below!
Custom Longjumping-records
In XJ only the official jump-techniques have a list of their own. Longjump, highjump, countjump (double/multicountjump), bhop (standup/normal), but here in Cypress-Climbing we don't (atleast yet) provide the users with a page for UNOFFICIAL jump-techniques. There are more unofficial techniques besides just the well known "weird longjumping".
First off, say "YES OR NO" to this suggestion. If you comment each technique individually it would be nice, because some people don't want such things as "bw lj with awp", however they wish to get weird longjump-lists.
This technique is very well known, and the best (in other words world record) is 270, which is shared by various players such as jahasunsa, 1337noob, KeltA, MaxteR and many more (the reason why the record is "just" 270 is because of the maps; weird_longjumps / weird_longjumps2 do NOT provide you with blocks further than 270 units)
Jumps have to be performed in either weird_longjumps or weird_longjumps2. All demos from other maps will be denied, unless this rule gets changed.
If lists for this technique get implemented in Cypress-Climbing, it will GUARANTEE a lot more activity, atleast for a while. Even though the "big buzz" might only be active for a while, many of the demosubmitters will start paying more attention to the site, their subconsceous mind will be "stained" by the website and they WILL visit again.
Yet another very, VERY well known technique for all jumpers. Might just be even more known than weird longjumping. The world record for this style is 170, as the highest block is 170 in its "official" map kz_longjumps2, yet a lot of people have shown amazing distances such as 194.xxx by Adantoud (stats only) and ZiK BlooDRaveN's 170x14 ladderjump.
I would be very satisfied if a mapper, such as ChaosAD, created a map for CC (Cypress-Climbing - cC = Cosy-Climbing) with blocks up to 200 or even 210. That way we would get UNIQUE demos to the site as no other website can host demos from longer blocks as a map for that simply doesn't exist (or atleast isn't well known).
All jumps have to be performed in kz_longjumps2. All demos from other maps will be denied, unless this rule gets changed. I am aware, that there are "a lot" of other unofficial techniques out there, but thats something we could start from.
P.S: LETS FORCE ChaosAD TO MAKE "cypress_weirdlongjumps" AND "cypress_ladderjumps"! Then, in my opinion, we can put this plan in progress. After all, the wljs2-map is made by xPaw and using his map might give a somewhat "bad image" for some children (about Cypress, if we use a "hackers" map) and after all a map made officially for CC would be, simply, great!
I got an idea when i read through the comments on the poll, I got that thought that a lot of people in here either just vote "Yes" or "No" and don't even see what the poll is about or don't read the arguements in the comments. My idea is that admins should not just look at votes but also take a look on what people are saying. Don't know if they do that already but i just thought i'd say it.
